Hello. My 2006 750i is throwing transmission faults. Today, I discovered that the transmission temperature right after the fault occurs is 95C, which is probably the number that automatically registers a fault on this vehicle for being too hot. Anyhow, I need to troubleshoot it, So far, I think it might me low .75L in tranny fluid, or the transmission cooler might be blocked with crud, or if a transmission cooler thermostat exists on this car, this thermostat might be faulty.
Background Info: I had a leaky transmission pan that I replaced 3 months ago. The pan I removed had no metal shavings on the magnets and the oil looked not much different that the new ZF Lifeguard 6 fluid. My mechanic replaced the pan and he was only able to insert 3.25L of ZF Lifeguard 6 into the tranny. I have read somewhere that someone actually removed 4L of fluid after dropping the pan, so I might be .75L low on fluid, which might be responsible for the overheating problem. Can someone verify how much fluid should go back in after a pan drop?
