So my check engine light came on. Plugged in my code reader and it says it's the camshaft sensor. I'm thinking it may also be the vanos. It's a 99 e46 323i with only 88k on the odometer. Do you all think I need to address the vanos now, or can I get away with just replacing the sensor for now. The sensor should cost about $89 + shipping. Rebuilding the vanos seems to be around $500, with parts at around $150. I would rebuild the vanos myself, but I'm a bit intimidated and don't want to screw up the car. I wonder if i keep driving with the light on if it will cause further issues for now.
