Post timing chain and guide replacement - should the crankbolt be easy to turn?

Hello all,

I just replaced the timing chain, guides, OSV, and other misc parts on my 2000 740il, 120k miles. Engine had an internal knocking sound and the old timing chain was loose.

I used several websites as reference:

When I turn the crankbolt, it feels like it's binding when I turn the engine about 180 degrees. I't's difficult to turn, but then gets easier, then difficult again.

Is the crankbolt suppose to be easy to turn the entire time or is there suppose to be some resistance?
