Hey Guys,
I really hate to do this but I just cant seem to find the time/motivation to get this project finished. I was wondering what a fair price would be for this car? Was hoping someone on this board could pick her up and finish it. The painful part is out of the way (buying all the parts) and now it just needs someones dedication to get it finished and running. Heres a little back story on the car. I bought it 4 years ago and at the time it was running the turbo kit on the stock mechanical fuel injection. I originally planned to do a full CIS upgrade on it with Volvo/Porsche parts but after reading about everyones megasquirt builds I decided to go that route. Car has 212,000 miles on the chassis. Heres a list of some notable highlights of what the car came with when I got it (link to all the pictures at the bottom):
Full custom turbo kit running at 5psi. The turbo is a Garret super 60 and has oil/coolant lines. Turbo is in very good condition with very minimal shaft play. Did not smoke last time car ran. The intercooler is off a Nissan and appears to be from a s13 sr20. Intercooler was mounted on the driver side right beside the radiator. The radiator support has been cut a little so that direct air flow hits the intercooler. Full 3 inch exhaust from the downpipe back. Has a nice quiet muffler so its pretty tame sounding.
15x7/15x6 Alpina rims. These are not replicas. No curb rash, but the black center area could use a respray if you want them to look brand new. Falken Ziex tires 205R/195F that have minimal tread wear. Tires are 4+ years old so they are probably not autocross ready.
5spd transmission swap. I do not know if it has an aftermarket clutch, but the clutch pedal and engagement feel like a stock car would.
323 rear disc brake swap.
Euro bumpers front and rear.
Awesome front lip that I could not recognize in the big Lip Pic thread in the e21 section. I have a couple pictures of it though if you can ID it.
Lowered on aftermarket shocks/struts but not sure on the brand.
E30 mirrors.
Interior was redone on the car and looks amazing, best part on the car probably. Fully adjustable Recaro front seats (unsure of what they came from, but driver side has a pump you can squeeze to increase bolster support. Look similar to Fox Body stang recaros). Rear seats were reupholstered to match and car has new headliner. Cleaned up, the interior looks brand new. Dash has many cracks, but has a fitted black cloth cover that hides all of them and looks nice to boot.
Alpina steering wheel.
Rear mounted battery kit.
The car now sits in a state in between stock CIS turbo and megasquirted. All parts for this build were purchased brand new and I mean all parts (minus 318i efi manifold of course). Most were purchased from DIYautotune and 02again. All the stock intake manifold/distribution has been pulled out of the car. I pulled the turbo off the manifold so that the 02 bung could be welded onto the downpipe for the wideband. Have new gasket for the reinstall. Radiator is out of the car and has been recored and looks brand new. Below is a list of goodies for the megasquirt install:
V3 Megasquirt board. This is almost completely assembled. Everything but the ignition circuit has been soldered together (did not know if I wanted to mount on the board or externally to reduce noise). Also comes with a complete JimStim board. Everything on the board functions as it should and I can demonstrate it in tuner studio using the JimStim. The megasquirt board is currently setup to use the stock 320i cold start valve, but if you would rather use a 2-step or 3-step, that functionality can be added.
DIYautotune fully assembled relay board.
35:1 Crank pulley from 02again with VR sensor mount and VR sensor. This is currently on the car but the crank bolt has not been torqued down. Engine currently sits at top dead center.
318i efi intake manifold, mated to a 325i throttle body using the 02again bracket. Have both the 318i efi coolant neck and 320i coolant neck. Comes with new manifold gaskets.
300zx throttle position sensor with 02again mounting bracket.
02again plug that goes where the distributor used to be.
GM IAT sensor and bung. Bung has not been welded onto anything yet.
Delphi 51 lb/hr high impedance injectors.
Ireland Engineering fuel pressure regulator with gauge.
IGN 4 tour coil pack from DIYautotune.
Innovative LC-1 wideband with white faced analog gauge (matches the boost gauge and seems more period correct than a digital gauge). 02 bung already welded onto downpipe.
Knockoff bosch fuel pump from the Porsche 928 (I believe). Nice upgrade over the stock pump. Already installed on the car and the fuel tanks have been repainted, cleaned, and reinstalled. Also has new fuel filter)
12 feet of assorted wiring from DIYautotune with rubber insulator tubing (the stuff that shrinks when heat is applied). Enough for the whole project, and then some.
460 piece assorted male/female electrical fittings from DIYautotune. This was purchased solely so that the stock plug on the 300z tps could be removed and replaced with one of these since I could not find the male plug that goes on the other end of the tps.
I think that about sums up all the megasquirt stuff. Im sure Ive missed a couple of parts as this was done from memory. I have all the original stock parts and nuts/bolts in labeled bags so you could convert it back to stock CIS if you wanted. The car has literally everything you need to finish the megasquirt build minus a throttle cable bracket to mate the 320i cable and 325i throttle body, and fuel lines to run to the new 318i fuel rail. I have taken a ton of pictures of all the parts/engine bay of the car and have pics of the car before it went under the knife. I didnt take any current pictures of the outside of the car since it looks the same just with a crap ton of dust layering it and the front end on jack stands. If you need pictures I will be happy to take more of course!
Now lets talk about the R-word. There really is not much on the car, but there is certainly a little. Almost all of the rust appears to be paint deep and will sand out except for in one little section (will describe that below). From 10 feet away you hardly notice the rust. Most of the rust is around the rear tail lights, a spot on the edge of the trunk where it meets rear quarter panel, and some parts around the rear windshield. There is a small patch on the driver side door near the bottom right corner of the door. Again, Im no body expert, but the rust seems to be just on the surface and will sand out. Now on to the one section where it does not appear that a simple sand will fix. On the passenger door on the bottom left corner there is a patch of rust that seems to have made a little pot-hole in the door about the size of a nickel. I will be happy to take pictures of every single spot of rust for anybody seriously considering the car. Compared to some of the e21 projects Ive seen on this forum, this car might as well be rust free.

One thing I dont understand is the vin # for the car. On the pink slip for the car and on the driver side door it is just 7 digits. What does this mean? I was going to get a car fax for the car but it doesn't like the 7 digit vin.
Sorry for the long winded post, but I am grateful for any help you gurus can give me! So what do you guys think is a fair price?
