Good Morning, I'm new to the forum and new to the world of BMW's. Bit of a long story this so I apologise now. Basically I bought a BMW 330CD Auto 2004 a couple of months ago and recently the turbo failed, managed to source a refurbished turbo with actuator with warranty. The original turbo failed due to the turbine snapping off inside (still whole).
Now I've had the refurbed turbo fitted and boosts fine, but when I pull away there is a huge flat spot below 3000rpm and has no where near the same power as it did before hand. The car seems to judder a lot (felt through steering wheel and accelerator pedal) before it finally manages to find its boost then sets off but still under powered.
I've had it plugged in to a diagnostics and throws up a fault for the actuator, my mechanic said it's probably a sticky actuator and needs replacing. I rung up the supplier from where I got the turbo and they said to do a vacuum test on the unit, if it's not that then it's a prior problem and not anything to do with the turb .
But after reading a lot online that it could be many different causes of this, MAF sensor, swirl flap actuator, vacuum hoses split ect. And that the ECU is different from the 330d and 330cd and some do in fact have electronic actuators whilst some don't?
I'm just wondering if anyone on here has experienced the same kind of problems/symptoms and can shed any light on the situation?
