Ok guys, I'm new to the BMW family here and i'm having some real trouble figuring out what is causing my overheating issue. My car is a 1997 318is automatic coupe. 209k miles.
Here is what happens:
On the freeway the car runs fine but the temp gauge will climb quite high as i go up a hill. At surface street speeds as well as idling the car will get all the way up to the red quickly less than 10 mins. I have one fan(not sure if there is supposed to be more)on the engine side. The electric fan works. However it still gets hot. The heater blows warm but its not really hot. Ive checked my coolant level and it is full and the proper color and not oily or anything. The oil is full and not milky. I have a new radiator ordered and on the way in the hope that its just old and clogged up. My only other guesses will be the Thermostat and or the water pump. I don't know what is happening here guys. Any help at all would be appreciated. If you have any questions please ask me.
