Ever since buying my super needy 1995 Oxford Green on Parchment 530i sedan, I have fallen in love with E34s. I had been lusting for an E34 Touring, and so finally two weeks ago I picked up (as posted here) a 1995 Black on Parchment 530i Touring. The car is a mixed bag;
The good: it's a Touring, it's complete, it was cheap, I like the black paint, body is in great shape, interior is great with a few exceptions, working dual sunroof;
The bad: it's a 530 (duh...), it has 206K miles on it (alusil motor has ~40K less than that), the transmission is slipping, water pump is shot, paint on hood and grill is bad, driver seat bottom is ripped and back seat bottom is marginal.
The car has cleaned up quite nicely

If you look closely you can see the cracking paint on the hood. It must have been repainted at some point?

So on to the donor. This past weekend I came across a 1995 540i with a (supposedly) bad transmission. The car has 132K miles on it, and was the PO's daily driver for 19 years. I payed the owner $750 for it including a full set of snow tires on OEM basket weaves... I plan to harvest the motor, the hood, the grill, and likely a few other parts for the touring. I may also swap interiors with my green car making it green on black, and enabling me to use the good parchment seats, door panels, etc. for the Touring.
This car also cleaned up really well

After a good scrubbing the interior is beautiful (if I may say so). I considered converting the Touring interior to black but with the back seats being different from a sedan and the rear cargo area, I decided against it

Now, if I could just source the parts to do a 6 speed conversion for the Touring...
