1995 BMW 850CSi
Only 225 USA Versions were imported for this domestic market. These special eight series wore a special wood grained trim throughout the interior and were considered the most beautiful of the entire "8" series run and a mere 225 produced for the US market. Hand built and Modified by "M" Motorsport division, this particular # 212 BMW 850CSi was considered as an "individual" since it was personally special ordered with the two tone NAPA leather and the usually rare European designation Cosmo Black, a beautiful charcoal pearl, that does appear black at night. A stunning car in any lighted setting. This is not a museum piece and has been driven, albeit gently and regularly so do expect some wear and tear at 88k miles.
As expected, the 850CSi makes no exception in having several names. In this case, the term M8 is mentioned on and on again. And it's correct. The 850CSi is a real M-car. It does not only have an M-bred engine (type S70, the S indicates M-origin) but has been manufactured by BMW M as well, according to the VIN which starts with WBS (BMW Motorsport) instead of WBA (BMW AG). This is mentioned in the papers as well. But although the papers say that the correct model name is BMW M8, the car has been enhanced only moderately by the M-Division, compared to the real M8, which remained a prototype only. Only 1510 units of the BMW 850CSi were built from August 1992 until October 1996. Because of stricter emission guidelines from January 1997 on, the production of the 850CSi ceased as further development, because of the few cars sold, would have been too expensive to retrofit for the new 1996 emission guidelines resulting in de-tuning loss of the 380 horsepower and increased cost for a vehicle already over $120k US dollars. So the 850CSi was discontinued in the US market. Cost for this beast discouraged sales and due to the paucity of the US version current resale value has significantly increased & will continue to do so.

Our Bimmer was first registered in Oregon up until 30k miles and purchase and shipped to the previous owner in Roswell, Ga until my father and I bought this jewel in 2011. Although we would wish to keep this rare beast forever, we have seven "8" series vehicles (and other makes, too) and 'tis time to thin the herd. Whichever sells is fine ... we see no need to give away any appreciating classic.
