ignition tumbler

my e36 m3 ignition has spun on me a COUPLE of times. normally it is fine.

Is it true that if it hasn't failed entirely i can replace it with part number
32-32-1-092-780?

I was weighing my costs and i could by wire, tools and switches to replaced the ignition system entirely for $165, or i can buy the ignition tumbler itself for $100 from tischer.

Which is the better choice?

I saw a youtube video that also suggested simply threading a screw into the housing and using the tension to hold the tumbler in place, is this a viable 3rd solution (and cheap one?)
