paint between all body panels peeling/faded/gone

Hi guys...I picked up a 2003 z4 2.5 manual last weekend. I love the car so far and am very happy with it. The car has 66k miles and is mechanically sound. I noticed when the hood was popped that the hood seam where the hood meets the fender looked almost sand blasted like high exposure to highway dust or something had kind of faded the paint in the crevice. When I popped the trunk I found the same thing...identical, it almost looks like the paint is down to primer...now I see it's at almost every body crevice besides the door jams themselves. The car is black. Not sure if anyone else has ever seen this? Is this an isolated issue to the car I bought or something that BMW did somehow on these? I'll post pics later...

PS the body paint itself on the outside is fine.
