Hey all,
s50 5 speed. Sometimes on cold mornings or if the car has sat for awhile I'll start the car in neutral and hear nothing. Once I push the clutch pedal in a slight grinding/rattling noise comes from the gearbox. It goes away as soon as I let the clutch pedal out and start rolling. Once the car gets warmed up it may happen only for a split second when switching gears/may not even be noticeable when shifting in the upper gears. It's mainly an issue starting from a stop. Sometimes it may make no noise at all.
I don't think it's syncros because the sound sometimes occurs when switching into reverse and the reverse gear doesn't have a syncro from my understanding. The clutch is only a year old.
My ideas are throw out bearing or pilot bearing? I know little about transmissions so any advice is helpful. Thanks!!
