Looking for Advice on Odd Window Regulator Behavior, behaves diff on each side...

So I'm doing my door panels back up with glue and sound proofing when I'm ready to put back on my driver's side. I hit up, down up down up trying to get the window up so I can lube the tracks before finishing the install to be a good owner.

After a few jumps upward drivers side window will only go down. Clicks when down button is pushed like a relay, nothing going up. Fuse for 2DR good, and I swapped the switches for windows to test, no change.

So I remove the whole dang assembly with the regulator and take it over to the other side and plug it in. It works up and down in short bursts, half second bursts much like when you open the door and it moves that 1/2" for some e36s. It does respond to both directions of the switch.

My questions are, when just the motor is hooked up without brackets or window, is it supposed to keep moving as long as I have the button pressed down? Are the short bursts alone indication of regulator failure?

If it is supposed to only be these silly short bursts due to sensing weight of the window or whatever and motor is ok, why is it working on passenger side only? Very puzzled.

School me in how this system works, my garage is a disaster trying to get this thing back together lol
