I finally got around to replacing the rear shocks (Sachs) and pressing out the rear ball joint bushings (Lemforder) after 210k. I had the old setup previously tested by several different shops and they all said everything was "fine". A complete misdiagnosis because the shocks and bj bushings were TOTALLY shot! A fun but successful adventure to be sure...
I also replaced the front traction/thrust arms because the old ones were toast too. They were replaced with X5 TABs at about 95k and were definitely in need so I did both arms (Lemforder). Front shocks were replaced about 60k back (Sachs)...
All control arms (front and rear with Lemforder and Meyle HD), both front hubs (Optimal iirc) and rear passenger wheel bearing (FAG) have been replaced as well...
This is the first time this "strange behavior" has ever occurred. It occurs when lane changing or making high speed left banking turns. It just doesn't feel as precise as it did with the fried shocks, ball joint bushings and toasted thrust arms. It's so bizarre that the DSC actually kicks in during the left turns and it feels weird...kinda like the wheel wants to bend under the car. She feels solid when making right turns. If I bounce test the left corner, it feels "fine" (lol).
I'm guessing a bad front hub (although it doesn't move when tested) or failed shock (only bounces once when tested)...all control arms look and feel solid. Any other guesses? :help
