Coolant drain (evans) on a 03 540 (m62tu) question

Doing a cooling overhaul on the 03 540 auto

new rad , all hoses , w pump , overflow , refilling with evans and going electric fan

Draining of the engine ..

So far I've got the upper and lower hoses off , along with the several other hoses to get to the water pump.

Used a shop vac with the blower output to blow air into both cross over tubes , in/out of alternator , water pump openings.

The crossover tubes yielded quite a mess and quantity.

Changed out the 3 heater core hoses and they were all empty from the shop vac

Took out the passenger side block drain tonight and got just a trickle , I'd say 1.5 cups tops.

Is the block drains the lowest point ?

For the little I got out of the passenger side I'm wondering if driverside plug is going to get much.

I haven't done the heater core (power back up car and set to high temp with fan on ) to clear out the core yet

I have right about 1/2 of a 5 gal bucket out so far.

Is this drained as far as I'm going to get ? Evans is calling for less than 2% water mixed in.

Recaro Speed S...

Need a little help with a possible Recaro Speed S driver's seat purchase.

I need to know if the seat bottom seating surface between the bolsters is wider than the stock Vaders.

The Vader seat bottom bolsters have always been a little too snug for my liking, so much so that I have to recline the seat back more than I prefer in order to be comfortable resulting in a not so optimal driving position.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hey guys,

Just a quick tip for anybody looking to detail their car soon. To make all the black plastic trim look like new (including the rear diffuser and door handles), all you need is some creamy peanut butter. In case you've seen this tip online and thought it was ridiculous, here's the proof

The part that was cleaned is obviously the dark new looking area. I know what I'll be doing all day tomorrow, time to go buy some more Jif.

P.S. Not responsible if you have a peanut allergy and die doing this

Smog Hookup in NorCal

Hey guys,

I live in Fremont. I'm looking to smog pass my 1990 Model car. It is failing emission on high CO. I checked some old posts which mentioned few smog hookup places, but as they are old posts, I don't know, if they are still good to go.

I was wondering if any of the members could point out some such place. I've heard there are many such smog hookup shops in San Jose, but I'm not sure. I'm willing to go as 100 miles to have it done.

So far, I've changed the spark plugs, air filter, engine oil and oil filter, checked the O2 sensor, put in CRC Guaranteed To Pass Emission Test formula two times, drove car really hard immediately before test. In short I've done everything I can think of to have it passed, but it still failed :mad

I'm a student, I bought this car for $1100, and I've already invested $900+ on the car fixing things, and worst part is I'm still clueless on what is causing it to fail the emission test.

Rest assured, I'm a student not some cop etc. I'm willing to pay the smog guy around $200, to just be done with problem. I can offer you $30 referral fee, provided it passes smog from your referred place.

Please, please let me know if any of you know someone who could help me on this.

Smog Hookup in NorCal

E65 AC compressor variations,

I'm looking to replace the AC compressor on 07 Alpina B7.
The original one came on the car was made by Denso in Germany, 471-1483, 64526925721, but this model has been discontinued. and replaced with Delphi CS20091, 64509175481. This change came with a little cost increase from $1067.71 msrp for Denso to $1174.35 for Delphi.
I can't help but to wonder if Delphi unit is any better in design or performance.
There is also Behr Hella 351110851. Just wondering which one would be the most reliable unit.
If anyone know the difference, any input appreciated.

E46 Door stop reinforcement plates?

Does anyone know if door stop reinforcement plates are made for E46's? My drivers door is cracked where the stop mounts to and I need to weld in a reinforcement. Similar to the Koala E36 plates.
