So I have a 1998 528i, and two of the window regulators busted (front left and rear right). I went down to a local shop and picked up two new regulators, one OEM and one aftermarket, and began work on the driver window first. Everything was going smoothly until I noticed that the new regulator was different than the one that was in my car previously. I first noticed that the metal motor mount was shaped differently and had a different clip. I tried putting it in and it just didn't seem to fit right so I looked closely at the DIY that I was watching and noticed that the rail that the regulator mounts to was different than mine. I looked at tons of different videos and all of them had a different style regulator and rail and I could not find any sort of information about this. I also took off the rear door panel and noticed a difference between the rear frame of my car and those in other DIYs. Does anybody have any information about a possible change that BMW made in design at some point in time, or any place where I could find the regulators that would fit my car? I'm broke and desperate to fix my car, especially now that its getting hot, so any info would be greatly appreciated.
